Great Scott! Back to the Future UK Tour 2026 Launches in Bristol Today!
Great Scott! The Back to the Future UK Tour 2026 officially kicks off today, Thursday 8 October, as the hit musical fires up the DeLorean at Bristol Hippodrome for the first stop of its eagerly awaited tour.
After five years entertaining West End audiences, Back to the Future The Musical is finally hitting the road, bringing Marty McFly, Doc Brown and that rather famous time-travelling DeLorean to theatres across the country.
And if you’ve been waiting for your chance to experience the musical without making the journey to London, the future has finally arrived!
The tour opens at Bristol Hippodrome tonight, where it will remain until 21 November 2026, before travelling to Edinburgh, Liverpool and several more UK cities throughout 2027.
Back to the Future UK Tour 2026 welcomes Roger Bart and Axel Duffy
There are some familiar faces heading back to Hill Valley, with Tony Award-winning Roger Bart returning as the eccentric Doc Brown.
Bart is certainly no stranger to the role, having previously played Doc Brown in Manchester, the West End, Broadway and Australia.
Joining him is Axel Duffy as Marty McFly, a role he previously played in the Australian production.
The pair will lead the company when the tour launches in Bristol, with Bart also confirmed to appear in Edinburgh and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Brian Conley will step into Doc Brown’s shoes when the production reaches Milton Keynes in February 2027.
With so many familiar names returning, there’s plenty for fans of the original West End production to get excited about.
Who is in the Back to the Future UK Tour cast?
Alongside Roger Bart and Axel Duffy, the cast includes:
- James Oliver as George McFly
- Danielle Rose as Lorraine Baines
- Brandon Lee Sears as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry
- Toby Shellard as Biff Tannen
- Tash Bacarese-Hamilton as Jennifer Parker
- Rhys Owen as Strickland
- Katrina Stenning as Linda McFly
- Blake Jordan as Dave McFly
Arthur Janes will also play Marty McFly at selected performances.
It’s a sizeable company bringing Hill Valley to life, and with the show’s spectacular effects, memorable music and larger-than-life characters, audiences should be in for quite the theatrical adventure.
From the West End to theatres across the UK
The Back to the Future UK Tour 2026 follows the musical’s hugely successful West End run at London’s Adelphi Theatre.
The production closed in April 2026 after five years, having welcomed more than 2.3 million audience members during its London run.
Worldwide, the musical has now been seen by over 5.5 million people.
Based on the much-loved 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, the stage adaptation brings the familiar story of Marty McFly travelling back to 1955 to life.
With a book by Bob Gale, music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, and direction by John Rando, the production combines original musical numbers with familiar favourites including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode.
And of course, there’s that DeLorean.
Without giving too much away for anyone yet to experience the stage production, the show’s theatrical effects have become one of its biggest talking points.

The future is looking bright for Back to the Future
There is something rather special about a successful West End musical heading out on its first UK tour. Not everyone can get to London to see a show, so taking a production of this scale around the country gives many more people the chance to experience it.
And with a musical as instantly recognisable as Back to the Future, there’s already a huge audience who know and love the story. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the films or discovering Marty and Doc’s adventures for the first time, this is certainly one tour that should be on plenty of theatre fans’ wish lists.
The Back to the Future UK Tour 2026 begins at Bristol Hippodrome today, 8 October, and continues across the country throughout 2027.
Great Scott, it’s good to have the DeLorean back!
