The Greatest Showman West End 2027 production has officially confirmed its London performance dates, with the spectacular stage adaptation heading to Theatre Royal Drury Lane next spring. And for fans who have been waiting to see the much-loved film brought to life on stage, there’s now a date to put in the diary.

Following its sold-out run at Bristol Hippodrome earlier this year, The Greatest Showman The Musical will begin previews in London on 14 April 2027, ahead of its official opening night on 5 May 2027.

The initial booking period runs until 2 October 2027, with priority ticket sales beginning on 3 November and general booking opening on 18 November.

It’s certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest West End arrivals of next year.

And with Samantha Barks and Oliver Tompsett leading the company, there’s plenty to get excited about.

The Greatest Showman West End 2027 cast revealed

The new musical will see Oliver Tompsett take on the role of P.T. Barnum, the ambitious showman at the centre of the story.

Tompsett has become a familiar face to West End audiences through productions including Wicked, We Will Rock You and & Juliet.

Joining him is Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum, bringing another hugely recognisable musical theatre performer to the production.

Barks is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Éponine in the film adaptation of Les Misérables, alongside her acclaimed stage performances in Frozen and Pretty Woman.

The principal cast also includes:

  • Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle
  • Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind
  • Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz

All five performers previously appeared in the Bristol production and will reprise their roles for the West End.

Further casting is expected to be announced.

The Greatest Showman musical brings the film’s biggest songs to the stage

Of course, one of the biggest attractions of The Greatest Showman has always been its music.

The 2017 film, starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Michelle Williams, became a huge success thanks in no small part to its unforgettable soundtrack.

And the stage adaptation isn’t leaving those songs behind.

Audiences can expect to hear favourites including:

  • The Greatest Show
  • A Million Dreams
  • Come Alive
  • Rewrite the Stars
  • Never Enough
  • This Is Me

The musical also features brand-new songs written specifically for the stage by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the award-winning songwriting partnership behind the original film’s music.

It’s an exciting prospect, particularly when you consider how naturally these songs lend themselves to live performance.

There is something about hearing a big musical number performed in a theatre that a cinema screen simply cannot recreate.

And if the stage production can capture even some of the energy of the film’s biggest moments, audiences could be in for quite an evening.

Who is behind The Greatest Showman West End musical?

The production is being brought to the stage by Disney Theatrical Group, with a creative team that certainly knows its way around a major musical.

Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs the show, having previously worked on productions including The Book of Mormon, Aladdin and Mean Girls.

The book is written by Tim Federle, while the musical arrangements and orchestration are overseen by Alex Lacamoire, whose credits include Hamilton and In the Heights.

The production also features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, and lighting design by Natasha Katz.

With circus creation, illusions and special effects all playing a part, this is clearly a production designed to make full use of the theatre.

And Theatre Royal Drury Lane certainly provides an impressive home for it.

From Bristol to the West End

The journey to London follows the production’s earlier run at Bristol Hippodrome, where the stage adaptation received its first performances in March 2026.

For a musical of this scale, bringing the production to life outside London before its West End opening has provided an opportunity to develop the show in front of live audiences.

Now, with its principal cast returning and performance dates confirmed, the next chapter is beginning to take shape.

And what a home it has found.

Theatre Royal Drury Lane is one of London’s most famous theatres, having hosted some of musical theatre’s biggest productions over the years.

With its grand auditorium and impressive stage facilities, it feels like a rather fitting venue for a show that celebrates spectacle, ambition and the extraordinary.

Could The Greatest Showman be one of 2027’s biggest West End hits?

There are certain films that seem almost destined to become stage musicals, and The Greatest Showman has always felt like one of them.

It has the big songs, the colourful characters, the emotional moments and, of course, a story built around putting on the greatest show imaginable.

But what makes this particularly interesting is the opportunity to experience those moments live.

The film has already introduced millions of people to its music, and the stage production now has the chance to bring that world to a new audience.

With an experienced creative team, a strong principal cast and a spectacular West End venue, the ingredients are certainly there.

Whether it becomes the next long-running London favourite remains to be seen, but there’s no denying the excitement surrounding its arrival.

The Greatest Showman West End 2027 performances begin at Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 14 April, with the official opening on 5 May. General tickets go on sale on 18 November 2026.

And for those of us who love a big, unapologetically theatrical musical, this could be one worth making a trip to London for.
