Our Review

At just 90mins with no interval, this is probably the shortest musical we have seen. Don’t let that deceive you though this show is high-octane from the second it starts to the moment you leave the auditorium an epic masterpiece. Matinée Dog gives this magnificent show 100% yes you read that right 100%. This honestly is the best show we have seen in a long time. Just don’t blink you might miss some of the action. An incredible score and amazing choreography make this show super slick.

To be totally honest with you we were not expecting it to be as epic as it turned out to be. We had our doubts over it being related to 9/11, a horrific tragedy that will be remembered forever. The show tells the story of a small town called Gander that had to take in 7000 people when aircraft were grounded in America. It is a small show (compared to other west end giants) but boy does it pack a punch. If there really was only one show you could catch in London please make it this one! You will not be disappointed.

It is incredible how individual cast members end up playing severl different people, I mean they couldn’t get 7000 actors could they? You would think this would make it super hard to follow but trust us it is done so well you always know exactly who you are following at all times. The songs are catchy and to make it even better the live band are visible on stage throughout the performance. The whole cast have incredible voices, Rachel Tucker (who we saw) belted out “Me and the sky” with such perfection that the hairs on the backs of our necks stood on end.

Having seen this show twice once in the afternoon, and once in the evening, each time there was in instant standing ovation with raturous applause. Well and truly deserved. You will be foot tapping all the way through this show, the band play out at the end and that is just fantastic, don’t take our word for it though go and see for yourself.

Phoenix Theatre

We were lucky enough to be treated to a champagne reception pre-show, Matinée Dog would highly recommend one of these packages. You are treated like royalty it was just fantastic. The Phoenix Theatre is a small intimate venue, perfect for this show and the closeness you get to the action is second to none! Book your tickets now! The show really is a soaring success.
