The Greatest Showman Musical is officially coming to London’s West End, with the spectacular stage adaptation set to take over Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027.

This is the moment we have been waiting for. Come one, come all, a show you cannot afford to miss!

Following months of anticipation and a hugely successful sold-out world premiere at Bristol Hippodrome — Disney Theatrical Group has officially confirmed that The Greatest Showman Musical will transfer to London, with Theatre Royal Drury Lane announced as its West End home from Spring 2027.

We were lucky enough to catch The Greatest Showman: The Musical in Bristol, you can read our reveiw here.

The announcement was made at Disney’s D23, where audiences were also treated to a performance from the musical’s cast. For fans of the original 2017 film, this is big news. For those of us who have already experienced the stage production, it is hardly a surprise.

The Greatest Showman Musical is coming to London

The new stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman premiered at Bristol Hippodrome earlier in 2026, where it played a sold-out engagement before concluding its run in May. Now, the production is heading for one of London’s most iconic theatrical addresses.

The Greatest Showman Musical will play at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027.

Exact performance dates and ticket on-sale information have not yet been announced, although fans can register for booking updates ahead of the London opening – sign up here.

And considering the popularity of the film, its soundtrack and the response to the Bristol Hippodrome production, we suspect tickets are going to be highly sought after.

Who is in The Greatest Showman Musical London cast?

The West End production will bring several of the principal performers from the Bristol production to London.

Oliver Tompsett will return as P.T. Barnum, with Samantha Barks reprising her role as Charity Barnum.

They will be joined by:

  • Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle
  • Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind
  • Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz

Further casting is expected to be announced shortly.

The return of the principal Bristol cast is particularly exciting for audiences who saw the original production, while giving London theatre-goers the opportunity to discover these performances for themselves.

What is The Greatest Showman Musical about?

Based on the hugely popular 2017 film, The Greatest Showman Musical tells the story of P.T. Barnum and his rise from humble beginnings to creating a spectacular new form of entertainment. The stage adaptation follows Barnum as he brings together a group of performers who have been marginalised by society and creates a show celebrating their individuality.

Of course, the story comes with one of the most recognisable musical soundtracks of recent years.

The stage production features songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, including:

  • The Greatest Show
  • A Million Dreams
  • Come Alive
  • Rewrite the Stars
  • Never Enough
  • This Is Me

The musical also features new songs written specifically for the stage, expanding the world of the original film rather than simply transferring its soundtrack from screen to stage.

The creative team behind The Greatest Showman Musical

The London production is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, whose impressive theatre credits include The Book of Mormon, Aladdin and Disney’s Hercules.

And there is a rather lovely connection here.

Nicholaw is currently at the helm of Hercules at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, meaning The Greatest Showman will follow another Disney musical into the historic West End venue, and we have to say the venue is undeniably stunning, the perfect home for such a magnificent new production.

The production features a book by Tim Federle, with Alex Lacamoire responsible for music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations. Circus creation comes from Lorenzo Pisoni, bringing the show’s spectacular circus elements and physical storytelling to the stage.

From Bristol to London

The announcement of the London transfer follows the show’s sold-out world premiere at Bristol Hippodrome. This is where things get particularly exciting for Matinée Dog. We saw The Greatest Showman Musical in Bristol, not just once but twice.

The production made a huge impression, combining the songs audiences already know and love with spectacular staging, choreography, circus elements and a brand-new theatrical interpretation of the story.

We described it as:

“Electrifying, emotional, extraordinary, this is theatre at its very best.”

The Bristol production gave audiences the first opportunity to see whether The Greatest Showman could successfully make the leap from the cinema screen to the stage.

Our answer?

Absolutely.
