The musical with a super sweet heart and a scrumptious soul! We did not know what to expect from this show but honestly it is epic. It will make you laugh, cry and cheer. This really is a treat for each and every one of your senses.

We really did not know what to expect of this show as we had never seen it before nor heard what it was about, we had not even seen the film! I know right we cannot believe it either. The show has a big heart and warm moments along with some heart wrenching moments. I have to admit I cried so hard at one point so brace yourself for “She used to be mine” sang from the heart and with such power it was truly gut wrenching. Don’t worry though there is a happy ending for Jenna and her beautiful daughter.

Waitress has music and lyrics by American singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson based on the film of the same name by Adrienne Shelly. choreographer Lorin Latarro and multi-Tony Award-winning director Diane Paulus, Royal Derngate Theatre, UK ,2022, Credit: Johan Persson

Jenna played currently by Chelsea Halfpenny will melt your heart, Chelsea has a magic way of really making you believe her inner feelings and plays the role stunningly, those pies too! Oh my they look real and we just wanted a bite of each one! Becky played by Sandra Marvin was superb from the moment she stepped foot on stage until the moment the band played out, she had us in hysterics throughout the show and the chemistry between the three co-workers was warming to say the least! Sandra left the show on the final night in Plymouth and heads to Sister Act (UK Tour) which we cannot wait to see her smash it! Waitress will miss you Sandra we can tell it was an emotional farewell in Plymouth! Wendy Mae Brown now plays Becky I am sure she is equally as beautiful and hillarious in the role. Dawn is currently played by Evelyn Hoskins and she brought such magic to the charecter on stage!

Although the females smash this show there are also some males that will capture your heart Dr. Pomatter is played by the wonderful Matt Jay-Willis (Busted) he brings such fun to the show and captures the heart of Jenna after tasting one of her beautiful pies! We really do want one Jenna! Ogie is played by George Crawford, George brings such fun to the show he will melt your heart. Tamlyn Henderson plays Earl, Jenna’s husband, he plays the role so well and masterfully makes you believe what goes on, a real talent. Micheal Starke plays Joe and Christopher D.Hunt plays Cal they both add masterfully to this phenomenal cast!

The music in this show is outstanding and it is wonderful to see the band on stage throughout the performance, you sometimes forget that the music is live but you cannot here as they play right on stage without taking away the magic of ther performance, if anything we think this adds to the atmosphere to bring the whole show to life.

The set, props and costumes along with the amazing lighting make this show one that you know came straight from Broadway and the West End. Watch this space but we can easily see this show returning to London! We honestly loved our night out at Waitress here in Plymouth and are sad its moved on but hey, that means you can see it near you Book now via there official website here.

Please note there are adult themes that run throughout the show so this may be unsuitable for younger audiences, we would recommend 14+.

A final word from us…. this production is simply scrumptious! Grab a bite and book today, you know you want to.
