A Magical Journey Down the Yellow Brick Road
The Vivienne’s Wicked Delight
Mezmerising audiences with her wickedness, The Vivienne steals the show as the iconic Wicked Witch of the West. From captivating costume to her stage presence, she perfectly embodies the essence of Oz’s most infamous villain, making every moment she graces the stage spellbinding. It is clearly obvious the crowd loved her as there really was no “boo’s” just cheers at the curtain call, she smashed it!
Stellar Performances Illuminate the Stage
Aviva Tulley’s portrayal of Dorothy, with her velvety voice and heartfelt rendition of “Somewhere over the Rainbow” evokes nostalgia and wonder. Nic Greenshields as the Cowardly Lion brings comedic finesse and charm, whilst Benjamin Yates’s portrayal of the loveable Scarecrow delights with perfect timing and a stunning vocal range. Emily Bull shines through as Glinda the Good, bringing charm and brilliance to her character.
Ensemble Brillaince and Magical Effects
The show is supported by a spectacularly talented ensemble cast, the production navigates the magical land of Oz with precision and grace. The seamless choreography, combined with masterful special effects, creates a truly immersive experience for audiences of all ages.
Glitches in the Emerald City
Whilst the production boasts impressive visuals and performances, there were some minor drawbacks. Excessive use of projection which occassionaly detracted from the connection with the stars, which kind of withdrew us from the wonderful world of Oz. At times the sound was sporadic and it hindered the clarity of certain songs. Despite these flaws, the heartwarming message of home and belonging shines through brightly. We would have loved to have seen more set and less “Spectacle”.
Heartwarming Finales and Incredible Talend
As the curtain falls, audiences are left with a warm buzz and a renewed appreciation for this timeless tale. The uplifting message of “Home is where the heart is” resonates long after the final bow, leaving us with a lasting impression of joy and wonder. Toto, even though a puppet was stunning throughout and you got lost in his joy, even boasting a wagging tail!
